Manimahesh Lake (also known as Dal Lake, Manimahesh) is a high altitude lake (elevation 4,080 metres (13,390 ft)) situated close to the Manimahesh Kailash Peak in the Pir Panjal Range of the Himalayas, in the Bharmour subdivision of Chamba district of the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. The religious significance of this lake is next to that of the Lake Manasarovar in Tibet. The lake is the venue of a highly revered pilgrimage trek undertaken during the month of August/September corresponding to the month of Bhadon according to Hindu calendar, on the eighth day of the New Moon period. It is known as the ‘Manimahesh Yatra’. The Government of Himachal Pradesh has declared it as a state-level pilgrimage .A sacred place also named as abode of God Shiva Manimahesh that is situated in North west of Himachal Pradesh’s Chamba District is a spectacular divine place of Hindus. Since centuries the place is holding the importance as abode & meditation spot of God Shiva & Goddess Parvati . Enchanting pilgrims with the loud & divine sound of Aum treks to the holy shrine of Kailash Manimahesh every year in the month of Aug Sept , when the holy bath (Chota Snan) Starts on the occasion of Shree Krishana Janam Ashtami . The devotees during the pilgrimage to the Manimahesh Lake, located at an altitude of 13,500 feet in Chamba district, will be allowed only after registration with the local civic authorities. This year the pilgrimage will start Aug 28, on the eve of Janmashtami festival dedicated to Lord Krishna's birth, and will conclude Radhashtami (the birth of Lord Krishna's consort Radha) Sep 13. Registration for Manimahesh Yatra would be done at Kalsuine or Hadsar heading towards sacred shrine.
Contact UsTo reach the sacred shrine there are multiple routes & the one is through Kugti village which is one of the far most villages in Bharmour region , after crossing the village divided in two parts upper & lower kugti the pilgrims have to cross over the Kugti Pass to reach the Holy Manimahesh lake.
